MEET THE PHOTOGRAPHER

Since 1993 Northern Portraits Photography by Jean McShane has photographed special occasios in the lives of many people--weddings, graduations, reunions, portraits and sports. She photographs in the studio, or at a location of your event.

The photographs she takes reflect you, and at the same time, tell a story.  Whether it's a family, a child, a senior, or a wedding that she is photographing, her concern is for you and your objectives for the photograph.  After all, the professional photographs that you have taken of yourself, your children, your family or your wedding are your gift to the future.

Jean McShane, photographer and owner, is an accomplished wedding and portrait photographer. She has loved photography her entire life.  She was the yearbook photographer in high school and worked and studied in the field of photography during college. After college, she was manager of customer service for a one hour lab. Jean married Mike McShane in 1988 and moved to Spooner, Wisconsin . As a stay at home Mom, she started a portrait studio from her living room, focusing strongly on customer service and satisfaction. The business outgrew her home and they purchased a storefront in Trego , Wisconsin .

She is a member of the Kodak's "Promise of Excellence" program which guarantees your photographs for your lifetime! Jean is also an active member of Professional Photographers of America (PP of A), Wisconsin Professional Photographers Association (WPPA), and Indianhead Professional Photographers Association (IPPA). She participates in continuing her education by attending yearly at the Winona School of Photography and participates in several workshops throughout the year to discover new techniques and garner new ideas.

It is Jean's desire to work with you to design a portrait that says something special about you at this moment in your life. She offers portrait design assistance on all aspects of your portrait. From where to create the portrait, proper clothing, to the correct size and location to display your portrait in your home.

Jean says: "As you can see by the images on this and the following pages, I am a portrait photographer.  I enjoy working with people of all ages and in a variety of situations, including the excitement of high school senior photography, the joy of weddings, the tenderness of a newborn, and creating special and timeless family portraits."   

"As a mother of three, I especially enjoy working with young children, and photograph hundreds of portraits through schools, dance studios, daycares and private sessions each year.  I believe a photograph is only as good as the photographer, and strive to make every session both unique and fun.  The time and energy I spend with my clients shows in the expressions captured by my camera. Photography isn't just posing people and taking a picture. Photography is about capturing the spirit of the moment and the participants." 

She goes on to say, "at Northern Portraits I believe in using my creativity to provide portraits that are significant to my clients. I believe in using natural surroundings that are meaningful to you, not always studio backdrops. I want to ensure that the final portraits from my studio are timeless and reflect who you are. I customize every session to the specific needs and requirements of my clients, and have packages to suit every budget."
